Why can't I find the Space Shuttle online?
|
|
|
|
|
I did some searching for the Space
Shuttle kit, but couldn't find it anywhere online. The only two
places that even listed it -- IQ Kids
(http://iqkids.com/seamonspacsh.html) and the A Boyd Company
(http://www.aboyd.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ET%206601) were out of
stock. ...AND, to show that I have been doing perhaps a little
bit too much research on this, I discovered that the product guide for the
Space Shuttle was suspiciously absent from the page on the official Sea
Monkey website that contains all of the product guides for the various
kits --
http://www.sea-monkeys.com/html/customercare/productguides.html.
Does anyone know if it was discontinued or something like that?
If not, does anyone know where I might be able to find it online?
Thanks...

I think I saw it mentioned somewhere that it was discontinued.
EDIT: It's not on the link I posted despite it saying it was on there.
I very much doubt it though. But there's the link to one I found straight away. But if you're looking for the best tank I suggest you buy the ghostly galleon as it is an absolutely fantastic buy (1 out of 5 tanks with the air pump) 1 out of 4 that glow in the dark, 1 out of 4 with a light and it includes plasma III. All you then need for absolute assurance is sea medic.
UPDATE: Explore a sub was taken back due to multiple complaints of leakage. The only reason I can think of with space shuttle is that it is EXTREMELY easy to knock over, quite suprising actually.

the answer... no longer in production
|
|
|
|

I decided to take a chance and I emailed the people
at sea-monkeys.com. I got a response pretty quickly (and on
Sunday evening), and was told that the Space Shutte Expedition was not recalled, but it is no longer in production. I wasn't given a reason why, but was suggested to try eBay.
So there we have it.
(It certainly does make sense that they stopped producing it because of a
high number complaints of it tipping over and spilling. I just
wish they made other kits with a similar built-in aerator).

yeah built in aerator is definitely the way forward for the next sea monkey tank they make, to be honest id be happy with a standard ocean zoo but with the aerator somehow incorporated into it, i think ill start a thread about peoples ideal tank/kit

If you do get explor-a-sub, consider a few things.
Apparently it's known for leaking and there are actually two versions of the product. You want to get one that I've been told has some sort of rectangular slot? rather than a circular slot. Anyway yeah that is the only thing I will say on the matter. Good luck!

Shuttle Problem Solved! Re: Why can't I find the Space Shuttle online?

Save the Sea Monkey Space Shuttle!
Here's a great tip for eliminating the problem with the Space Shuttle. I guess the main complaint which stopped the company from making anymore was that it was way too easy to tip over. And tipping over is a Major Disaster for us Sea Monkey lovers.
I have an easy solution: Just glue a small piece of wood (or other solid material) to the back! I did this successfully & it is now tip-proof!
What I did was I got a thin piece of wood, 1-inch wide & 5 inches long. (About 1/4 inch thick). Your piece can be any size close to this, as long as it reaches from the back of the Shuttle to the floor. You can also use a similar piece made out of metal or plastic. Then I simply leaned the top end against the Shuttles' back, high enough so that the bottom end touched the floor, or tabletop, or whatever it was standing on. Then glue the top end as it lays against the back of the Shuttle with Shoe Goo. That's it! You can also use other 'glues'- best recommended is the quick-drying "JB Weld".
The triangle this support makes is kinda like the back of a picture frame that stands on your desk. Aint gonna tip over after that, no matter what.
Hope this helps some of you to start up a cool Sea Monkey Space Shuttle of your own!
