Paradise [ip] Heating issues and thermometers
Reply Quote

I bought a thermometer today, a stick on one for my tank, which seems to be working excellently.  What I have found is that keeping my tank at a constant temp of between 70 and 76 is hard in my hosue, especially in the cold UK.  Have any of you got some good heating tips?  Not locational ones mind, but something to purchase that would help or using something readily available around the house?

You could put it near a desk lamp for a few hours each day. I ususally do that to speed up hatching.

it is a very good idea to buy a 50-60 wat amp and put it a foot and a half diaganal from the sea monkey tank it makes just enough heat.

If you have enough money, you could buy a heater and thermostat (aquarium one) for them. That could be up to £60, though. Maybe a little much for just sea monkeys.

The aquarium heaters would probably provide too much heat. They are usualy sold by the gallon, which is too much for a 12 oz container. The easiest and cheapest way would be to use a lamp.
