As if you oxygenate the tank too much (I do 60 pumps a day, which is too much) The algae can't grow. It will grow under good light and temperature, just keep the oxygenation to a minimum and make sure the SMs dont get sluggish in the process.    Report

I'm a neat freak and don't allow any foreign particles in my tank LOL The water has to be completely clear LOL Do you think this is possibly why my brine shrimp don't last for more than a week LOL?   BTW, if you're all looking for more scientific info on sea monkeys, research brine shrimp. I have found more acutal science data on them then Sea Monkeys, which are more toy-like LOL    Report

Well from experience it's not just bacteria but food also that makes the water cloudy. And algae is fine as it;s their natural environment.    Report

The only thing I don't like about the Sea Monkeys formula is the dye. I don't like the blue water, and when I'm using brine shrimp the clearer water makes it easier to see algae and tell when they are fed.    Report

The good thing about using brine shrimp is that I sometimes let the water sit still for a few days in the Ghostly Galleon tank. Then I get the ship covered in live algae and finally add the eggs at that point.    Report

Also SMM about the dye in the packets, it never seems to do anything for the colour od my water as it is still pretty much colourless tbh and always has been.    Report
