Then we have a Micro-Vue aquarium with a few welcomed extras. Probably most notable, is the glow in the dark Sunken Galleon at the bottom. At first, I wasn't too crazy about this... but now I love it... more on why later. And then there's the Aero-Vent Tank Cover with the detachable Oceanic Searchlight (powered by two AAA batteries). This tank cover and light combo is in my opinion, a nice improvement (and provides more light) over the older Light-Up Ocean Zoo Cover. The light fits snuggly into the top of the tank cover when you want to illuminate your the entire aquarium... or any other Micro-Vue you may have. The light can also be easily removed from the tank cover and serve as a convenient hand-held light. If you have several Sea-Monkey tanks, you'll likely find yourself using the light in this manner quite often... I know I have. To top things off, they've also thrown in an amber-colored filter (which fits into the tank cover) to change the look of your illuminated tank when the light is on.

Another great inclusion in this kit is that of a Million-Bubble Air Pump for effective aeration of their water. If there was one accessory I wish was included with every kit, this is it! It's so important that baby Sea-Monkeys get plenty of oxygen in their first week of life and this simple device makes it convenient and easy. You're also provided with an Aqua-Leash which you'll find effective for transporting individual Sea-Monkeys, or just cleaning up gunk in their aquarium. I also prefer using an Aqua-Leash in place of a plastic spoon for stirring/mixing needs. Things like Purifier, and Plasma III are more easily dissolved this way.

So what's so special about the Glowing Galleon at the bottom of the aquarium? Well, for one it glows... but that's not what I personally like about it. I'm not sure if this was intentional in the design or not, but this simple sunken ship provides prime surface area for the growth of green algae (which helps in producing oxygen and a supplementary food source for your pets). After just a few weeks, I was very impressed at the amount of algae that grew along the masts and other areas of the ship... and the Sea-Monkeys love it! Additionally, it gives even more of a sunken ship look to the galleon. If you're not into this look... you can limit the growth of algae by aerating your tank more often and by lessening the amount of light it gets. The growth shown in the picture is from a tank that gets aerated twice a week. As a test, I have another galleon kit that I aerate every other day... and as a result, it hardly produces any "visible" green algae. I believe this is simply due to the movement of the water. So basically, you get to choose how much "visible" algae growth you want.

I'm glad to say that the Official Sea-Monkey Handbook is indeed included with this kit. There's lots of information packed into this little handbook and since not all kits include one, it just makes this great kit even better. Now you see what I mean about not having to mail order for essential extras.

Summary:
This is the kit I personally recommend to anyone who has a sincere interest to jump into the world of Sea-Monkeys with both flippers. There's plenty of other kits to enjoy, but this one will get you all of the essential extras right up front. For someone just starting out, it's nice to know that there's a kit as complete as the Ghostly Galleon. And for the veteran Sea-Monkey® hobbyist, you'll appreciate a Micro-Vue aquarium that's great for producing green algae for your pets. A winner all the way!
