Similar to the Hang 10 kit, there is also the In The City kit that is almost identical except for the cosmetic differences inside the tank. So this review can also be considered as one for the In The City kit as well. These kits bring a new experience to the Sea-Monkey world by breaking away from the Ocean Zoo look as well as the On Mars and Magic Castle tanks.
After receiving this kit in the mail, it appears smaller than you might expect, but it's shape was altered to fit the 12 oz. standard so the volume is still the same as in any other Sea-Monkey kit. The magnifiers of this kit are now located on top of the kit, as opposed to the Micro-Vue aquariums. There are also eight air holes all around the top which provides extra oxygen for your surfin' pets.
A major advantage to this tank is its box-like design. In other words, it takes a lot to tip this tank over. After tapping the sides of the full tank repeatedly, it becomes obvious that the tank merely slides rather than being toppled over which is a major plus.
Another interesting little trinket is that there is a little Sea-Monkey in the design that is holding a little Olympic type ring in the air. It struck me that this may have been intentionally placed for added fun. Imagine one of your Sea-Monkeys twirling in and out of this ring!
Another little interesting thing that comes with the kit is what looks like a small version of the Aqua-Leash. I've yet to see this in a kit. There are no instructions as to what it is for, but it would appear that this can be used for stirring formulas and perhaps even aerating. The hole in it is too small though if you plan to fetch your adult pets.
The kit includes just the basics, so you may want to order any additional things you might need for a successful experience. It comes with the basic starter package (Water Purifier, Instant Live Eggs, and Growth Food) and feeding spoon. Unlike most newer kits, Living Plasma III is not included. You'll also find that you are missing the standard Aqua-Leash and the Million-Bubble Air Pump which is an integral part to providing oxygen to your pets. Summary:
Overall, I'm really satisfied with this kit. Although it did not come with the Million-Bubble Air Pump, they did not leave you high and dry. This little bubbler is quite fascinating. There is also the Perfect Procedures for Perfect Pets handbook that complements this kit nicely. The Sea-Monkeys Mini-World: Hang 10 and Sea-Monkeys Mini-World: In The City kits are great for starting a new adventure. The great design and durability are an excellent plus for these awesome new kits.
